So my brother in law had his car damaged by his son coliding with a kerb at speed and SWMBO deemed it suitable to lend the Polo to help him get to work

Whats the worst thing that could happen to a car when you lend it to someone?

Answers on a postcard to the usual address :roll:

It's not answer 7 BTW

I'm still seething so I'll post thye answer when I've calmed down!!!!

I'm with the Splitties being kerbed. Its the sort of thing that would happen to me if I lent my car out.

OK - he pranged it.......... :shock:

But that didn't p*** me off..... I know I was narked but what happened wasn't his fault and it's his first bump in 35 years of driving!!!!!

WHAT did give give me the hump big time is he put it in for repair without asking me first and the onlyb reason I found out was it I knew he had his car back from repair and rang to say I would pop round and pick it up....... Then I find out!!!

Whats worse is I don't know the extent of the damage (Said to be light in his words) and it's locked up in the spray shop for the weekend....

It was then I went mental!!!!!!

I don't mind the damage s**t happens - but I maintain and repair my cars myself so I know it's done right - I don't want some half witted accident repair shop putting a load of filler in a dent when a panel is whats required....... Jesus - even my Lotus , Monza or Senator don't go near a dealer or paint shop without at least 3 positive recomendations from people i know and trust and even then I visit it daily (it pisses em off big time but I want to be involved in every stage if my baby is bent and the repair is outside my abilities or equipment range - and thats a bad knock if it is!!!!)

That was me, sorry I was hoping for the best.

That's not good is it, I would have gone a bit mental if someone did that with my polo, especially after that break in you had.

Hopefully the damage was light and they've done a good job (fingers crossed eh?) and no damage to them lovely wheels. :(

Anyway it wasn't all lows this week - I had a drive in a 9n 1.4 16V (guessing 75bhp) this week - borrowed it cos the Monza threw it's teddy in the corner on Monday (heater matrix decided 21 years of service was enough to retire so split its guts open and flooded the interior with hot steam and shorted out all the wires in close proximity - day after SWMBO lent the Polo out - typical

Nice drive - sharp brakes - quite peppy performance wise

Only borrowed it for the evening but washed it and hoovered it out before giving it back - damn the roof is high I'm amazed the lass that owns it can reach to wash the centre of the roof - I struggled - thats why I posted the option 7 cos thats what should happen :shock:

Aside - come to think of it I don't think she does reach the roof - the whole car was minging before I cleaned it and I had to wash the drive down to get rid of all the mud and s**t from the arches - 52 plate with 13K miles

bad luck with the car there.. young and naive as i am, i know the dodgy body shop blues.. ;) :shock: --- best of luck!

coulda been worse... he MIGHT have blown the engine or box (i caused significant damage to the gearbox on mum's old punto, which then blew up on her a week later.. whoops!)

what's a SWMBO mean btw? been puzzling over it... Significant wet monkey Brother's Other?

that's a shame mate

i guess he was trying to do what's best and fix it ASAP for you - I know that was the wrong thing to do but I guess he had good intentions at heart?... what's the bodyshop like he took it to?

hope it sorts itself out :evil:
