Bonnet hinges are supposed to be used on race/track cars, they hold down a carbon fibre/fibreglass bonnet down rather than using a 'heavy' latch and hinge system. It also allows the bonnet to removed quickly.
Good plan about the side repeaters, but need them to be held a fair bit lower.
Think i may have worked it out now. Gonna order te fibreglass after christmas then start work!
Oh, reg the hinges, there aint much i dont know about cars! And if there is, i have mates that know!

I like that description
Not done anything of the late, bloody christmas an all that! Just ordered a carbon engine cover from a chap on clublupo, gave up on making one, am going to modify it though as it looks poo as it is.
Get paid in a few days so gonna order all the fibreglass, resin, gelcoat etc. Then i can get on with the flip front. Hopefully pick up the narrow box section (for reinforcement) in a few hours.
If all goes well hopefully getting a mk3 gt as a runabout so i can rebuild my gearbox and finish off the bodywork.
Have now decided all arches will be extended, using mk2 golf gti spats. Shall bond them on and blend em in. That way i can go lots lower front and back. When the fronts are done i can make the moulds for the flip front.
On another note, i've worked out if i can get the car to 800kgs, and get the engine to 160bhp, it should run 0-60 in around 5.5secs, so thats the plan!
Will keep you lot updated and hopefully do something interesting soon!

Time for a little update. Got a gt for a runabout. Got all the box section for the reinforcement. Have yet to have ordered fibreglass. Took the gearbox out today, gonna order the bearings monday and rebuil in the week, ready to go in at the weekend hopefully. Gotta give it a good service as well, then gonna crack on with the rear arches. I'm then gonna respray both doors and the door shuts. Sticking with grey for this year. Then on to the front, so its a few months away but should be good!

Bet you bought the 8's all round? I assume you went with ET20? Make sure you use 195/45 tyres stretched on else it will scrub, lots! My 8's were worse on the back than my 9's because of the offset.
Don't know what feature you mean?!? If it was the colour its staying for this year, cant be arsed to do it again just yet. Will get round to it one day. I've already picked the colour.
What site was it? I dont belong to many!!

Ah yes, i do belong to swdubs. If you havent already ordered the wheels i have 2 immaculate 7j's for sale as thats what i used to run. But knowing my luck you've already paid for em! Make sure you run stretched tyres on the back, my 8j's were worse on the back than the 9's. Good choice on the front's, 8's scrub like crazy!

Right then peeps. Sorry to disapoint but the project will be seizing where it is. I've decided i'm bored of the car (stupid i know). I'm gonna roll the arches more all round to help prevent scrubbing, and still finish the rest of the spray job off for this year. I still have a few tricks to do, namely a fancy look engine bay and a load of ice. Then I'll continue to use it as it is till e38.
After E38 the car will be sprayed a sensible colour (either red, silver or metallic grey) to make it easier to sell. I'll be selling it minus the wheels. I'm then becoming a trator and going jap. And it'll be the first damn euro jap car you'll ever see! And going by the photoshop's we've done, it'll be mental!
