When steering wheel is turned, engine will start again.

Got some insights on Start-stop working logic.



So steering angle input is taken into account in DSG gearboxes only.. makes sense. As with DSG, even when the car comes to halt in traffic stops, the car would still be in D/S mode, unlike in manual cars where you would need to disengage gear for Start-stop system to kick in. Last thing you would expect from the start-stop system is to cut off the engine when you are taking turn and stop suddenly for some reason.

In our Golf with manual transmission the start/stop system is deactivated, and the engine turns on, when for example we are waiting at a traffic light and the lights go from red to green and the vehicle in front moves. I love it not having to worry about when the traffic light decides to change.

It's not related to your question, but I wanted to mention it.

From the instance I installed MK8 capacitive touch steering wheel in my T-roc, I have been noticing the varying intensity of backlight of buttons during day and night. During the day time, the buttons are brightly lit and at night time they are dimly lit. I was always wondering how does this backlighting of buttons is regulated.

Honestly, I was searching for some kind of light sensor built in steering buttons..LOL

Then came the moment of awakening
I was trying to stick some protective film on AID display at night using a bright light source, I noticed the steering wheel buttons were getting brighter .. oh.. Archimedes moment



Very clever of VW engineers to use photosensors of AID to also regulate the backlight of capacitive touch buttons
Maybe I am the last one to know this, but nevertheless, thought of sharing this information here.

I am smitten by the new wheel I have installed. It has its flaws, but a piece of art
Perhaps the time is ripe to go for top R version

Apart from the Chinese engineering S/S, which is fantastic, I believe that the SW from 'Slavik' engineering and friends makes it possible to code our 'Manual' Golf for 'Follow-up'.

New oem frameless IRVM in my T-roc .... Well not success for now.. but I would say 80%



I had bought a new oem Frameless autodimming IRVM (3G0857511AC) long time back for my 6R, which I didn't install.
Instead I had installed frameless autodimming IRVM with HBA (7E0) in my 6R with help of Master Ciclo.
Somewhere in my store room, this new frameless mirror was lying peacefully, which I found recently. Thought of making use of it in my T-roc instantly. My factory fitted T-roc IRVM isn't the prettiest one with a thick bezel.
What I had thought of a new frameless mirror would be a straight fit into my T-roc, but it isn't! .. I had a " Houston we have a problem" moment

Though the new mirror locks perfectly into the windshield mount, I was struggling to put back the covers of the assistant camera. I realised something is a miss. Put both the stock and new mirror side by side and did comparison, differences became clearly visible. The mount design of both mirrors are slightly different.



If we look carefully, two things stand out between both mirrors.
One, the new mirror has a bigger housing with prominent edges for the HBA camera in the back, whereas in my T-roc mirror, such housing is small or nonexistent. Perhaps, the T-roc irvm is designed differently, as HBA function is now from a separate A5 camera.



The second and significant difference is the length of the stem between the windshield mount and the ball and the socket joint in the back of the camera. My T-roc IRVM has a longer stem than the new one.




The prominent edges in the housing for the Camera in the new mirror were the reason behind the assistant camera cover not being snapping back in !! The edges were fouling and abutting the cover. So I filed and trimmed the edges by around 3 to 4 mm. Now the cover snaps back in perfectly



The second problem, the length of the stem is not much of an issue as such, but due to its short length and design of assistant camera cover in my T-roc, the side to side end movement of the new mirror is slightly restricted as the back of the mirror touches the cover. Mirror up and down movements are free. Slight inconvenience but I have a plan B and even plan C to fix this.



The new frameless mirror adds class to the cabin and is definitely wider and larger. I can now see both C pillars clearly in one frame, a slight improvement in safety factor.









Was this upgrade worth a hassle.. a resounding yes!! .. now my T-roc cabin looks more rich and premium

A new big car (MUV) for family

My dear wife wanted a big car for family outings and long drives. So a few months ago, I had booked a Toyota Innova Hycross top end variant( 7 seater) which is sold here in a hybrid form. The car has finally arrived at the dealership, I went to have a look and did a pre delivery inspection. It will take a few more days to complete the paperwork and registration process before I take delivery.
I will write a one off concise review later after owning and driving her for sometime. As I bought a top end variant with almost all features, I have no plans to do any mods, it will stay in stock form (mandated by wife). I hope the moderators/admins won't mind one more post about a non VAG car .

Yes, I do plan to activate steering wheel heating, as the option is available now. Infact heating option is available in my present steering wheel also. Already purchased the slip ring for heating some time ago.



Though the wheel heating is no much of use in region where I live, but nearby drive to hilly forest in winters can be very cold, heating seats and wheel might give some warmth )))

The R-Wheel is spectacular , I have mine parked somewhere now, on standby...

The thermal sensation is individual, especially for those who did not have the appropriate blood flow at certain times...
The heated steering wheel as well as the heated seats are a very pleasant -luxurious- sensation even at 'normal' outside temperatures.

Nice emulators/chips, I'm really intrigued by the additional automatic function you want to achieve... , we will wait to know your intentions.
