A couple more photos taken last night:

I spent ages trying to get the boot handle out, its way too big to get out in one piece without taking the lock barrel off. The lads at the garage didnt really want to risk pulling on it or trying to take it apart in case it broke as the whole locking mechanism is cast and easy to break.

To get the lock barrel off, i removed the "C" clip (Item 5 on the diagram below), then tapped the keyhole area of the lock with a socket using a hammer and it came straight out on the first tap.

Image

The lock barrel welds itself to the handle with corrosion over the years and i believe tapping it with a hammer is the only way to get it out.

It didnt cause any damage to anything so its all good :)

Hopefully it will going to the spray booth on Sunday, there is still a little bit of prep work to do including fixing the dented sill from where some total jokers jacked it up wrong.

Quite desperate to get it back now as the girlfriends lupo decided to break down on us last night and now need to get the gearbox done on it.

Cant really afford the £15 ea way in taxi fares, so will rocking round in a 1.0 litre arosa (girlfriends brothers car)

The program used above Joe is: ELSA Win 3.7- Electronic Service Information System for Audi/VW

Sills have been repaired (Dents pulled) from where cowboy garages have jacked it up in the wrong place, the undercoat on the sills has been stripped down due to unevenness on both sides.

Car goes into be painted tonight :D

It was looking a little old hat i thought, since the respray i have decided to keep the roof silver for now as it looks so fresh :)

Its been a while since i posted on the build thread but a lot has been done to it since i last posted so heres some more pics, sorry its been a while but i had an MS Relapse which put me out of action for a while:

In the spray booth being repainted:

Since having the car back, i have had the tracking and camber done, the car drove really bad in the rain as it was, the camber and toe were massively out:

Hit a monumental milestone on the mileage:

Image

Bought a new aerial base as the original one had perished, pics to follow as i still need to fit it, also got a VW Sharan Stubby aerial:

Image

Got a new badge for the back as the one i had before was just a bubble badge sticker, not sure what it was off, bought from a chap at early edition and he didnt know what it was off either:

Image

Have been working on a new support bracket for the back seats as the ones that were made for it before were only a temporary measure.

Also got some new side lights and number plate lights:

Fronts have got these bulbs in, got no pictures of the installed yet:

Currently saving my pennies for a Pioneer AVH-3300BT head unit, seen a few videos on youtube and really like the look of it:

Image

Got a whole load of other mods to come, just need to save some pennies.

Some of the mods i have planned i havent seen done before on a polo so should be interesting, just need to get my copy of Etka working properly so i can work out what parts i need to get.

Thanks for reading :)

It feels like a brand new car, the seats are by far the best modification i have done to the car, they are so much more comfortable than the standard GTI seats and they really hug you when sitting in them.

Its amazing the difference in quality of the seats too, they look a million times better. The steering wheel really compliments the seats too in my opinion.

The paintwork is so fresh i keep thinking there are scuffs on the paint when its actually a reflection off my trainers.

I'm really pleased with the final outcome, the total cost for the seats, steering wheel and respray cost me just over 2K all in.

I have a few gadgety things i want to do from newer VW's, not sure if they will all work and i need to save hard to get the bits but i like to do things that are a little different now and then :)

I have loads of annoying more urgent things to do as well, like CV joints and engine mounts :(
