I never knew about this, so thanks for letting me know. I always wondered how to get to updates that didn’t install first time.

Could be that only the FL models recieve them this way

The update that I eventually found had been sitting there waiting to install.... is still trying to apply the update (and that's been over a month now).
It looks to have got about 40% done and just appears to be stuck there!!
Sat in a good 4G reception area (tested this and around 15mbs download is available) and still nothing happens. Even sat in the TESCO car-park waiting for someone (engine running as it was Baltic cold) for around half an hour.
So... I still remain skeptical of VW's OTA updates . A good idea... but only if it works.

I’ve tried to update mine many times. Sometimes the notification randomly pops up saying update and if I press yes it will say that it can’t do it as I’m driving. Once that message disappears it’s very hard to predict when it will next show, and I’m going to make sure that I’m at a stand still when I accept it. My software screen looks like this when I manually try to install it, (no update is showing) see photos attached.

Looking at your last photo, you have "1" update waiting to be applied.
Try (as suggested a few posts back) swiping down from the top of the infotainment screen and then swiping left (or right, depending on your viewpoint) and it should be there waiting for you.
Good luck.
PS. I've NEVER seen an updating waiting for me going view "updates" screen shown on your photos. But doing as I suggested above, there's one sat there waiting for me to apply it. Not like it will actually do anything!

I managed to do it! I did what you said, swiped down from the top and then swiped to the left to see the notifications and is now updated! Thanks

use pull down menu, swipe left.
Then there will be updates visible.
Do you have a number in a circle in top bar of the infotainment?
Just do this, the update will be there

Sometimes "old" is good

Does anyone know why the update notification (IE. the circle top left of the screen that looks to show the progress) when applying an update, is sometimes blue (as above) and sometime red (as in the case of my apparent "stuck" update)???

Did you try to reset the infotainment?

I should have thought of that. You can't beat a re-boot.
I'll have a go tomorrow when I'm in a decent reception area and report back.
Thanks.

Sadly re-booting the Infotainment system appears not to have made any difference. It's still showing the following (regardless of how long you leave it with the engine running).
Not that worried ... but I'm assuming that it will though prevent any other update from downloading and installing.

Once again "I don't believe it"!
After a month of trying to get this update to install. I noticed today that there were two other updates queued to download/install. No indication what they were. But both downloaded/installed quickly and soon after that, the original "stuck" update returned (see above picture). This then proceeded to quickly install itself.
So my guess here, is that the first two small updates sorted something. Allowing the original one to then install correctly. But who knows really I suppose.
God to laugh really.
PS. And they want us to trust self driving cars. HA HA HA
