This is a very daft question but.....................
Anybody know if when replacing the pedal box they leave the existing pedals???? I've got TT pedals fitted at the mo and just wondered if they should keep the existing pedals in situ.
Cheers
Dave.

the new pedal box dosent come with new pedals so you need to swap the old pedals over to the new pedal box so no worries

Since I have only recently bought my car, VW still had the original owner on their database so the letter has gone to her. The guy on the recall line said no problem though, just take it to a VW dealer and it will be fine.
Called them up today and the car is booked in for next Tuesday. They reckoned about 4 hours work as the whole pedal box will be replaced

my car was booked in for the recall on yesterday..went in and they checked it over and said yes it needs this part then ordered it...so in the end they had the car the whole day for a part that they knew had to be replaced neway? Is this normal or should they have just replaced the parts in the beginning

it also went in for the rear door card clip and handbrake cable clip to be fixed, but again they somehow still ain't got the parts after ordering twice and did nothing about it, i'm losing faith in vw altogether atm

Dealer service can be really poor sometimes it has to be said! Although I bet you'd get the same trouble if you had a Peugout (sp?!) or a BMW or a Ford or a ...... lol

they're all the same it seems...
Sometimes they do get things right though - I've had my car in the garage about half-a-dozen times now and so far all has gone smoothly (put the jinx on it now). Only the recall has flustered the parts chap a little bit but he's photocopied the letter and my baby's going in tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes eh?
*crosses fingers*
*fondles lucky rabbit foot keyring*
BTW do we get an entry on the service log to confirm if the recall has been carried out on the car? Just thinking about future resales and stuff...

My car is booked in for the 21st of July, thats the earliest the only decent dealer near me can do it!
They said originally the work would take 2 days! So I asked for a courtesy car and they quickly said they could do it in a day, funny that!

Weeeeeeeeeee I've got my Polo back

and it drives real nice. It drove real nice beforehand mind you - I've not had pedal box probs yet and let's hope it stays that way now! Feels a bit different thru the clutch though slightly more positive gearchange (or maybe its just me!), and nice and smooth into reverse gear too.
In answer to my own question earlier on I've also got a nice self-signed reciept to acknowledge the recall being carried out and completed with the usual VW 12-month gaurantee on parts. That'll come in handy when I come to sell in a few years' time and someone asks about the recall...
Thats me happy then! What about everyone else?
Cheers

Took mine in today to have the new pedal box fitted......And unfortunately the saga continues.................
They've just phoned me to say that as they were about to replace the pedal box they found a broken "clip" which has something to do with the brake pedal assembly.... Basically the car is in bits and can't be driven. The "clip" they need is out of stock nationwide and they have put it on back-order. Anything from 2 days to 1 month they have said!!!!!!!
So now i've got to head down there with my own and my girlfriends driving licenses to pick up a lovely Lupo!!!!! Which i get to keep for the duration of the pedal box saga.
Just been to collect the loan car....1.4 04 reg Lupo...seems ok as long as i don't have it for too long
Went to get a few things out of mine while i was there.....Mi little baby is in bits!!!! Steering column on the floor next to the car and the dashboard set out in sections all around.
Cheers
Dave.

I returned from holiday on tuesday to find out my car was going in on thursday for the recall.
My mum said she'd take it in and pick it up on her way home from work. So i was quite happy.
However this is what happened today. My mum took the car in and while she was there asked if the clutch would ease up after the new pedal box had been put in. They said they wouldn't be sure until the new pedal box had been fitted. Anyway they rang my mum to tell her the pedal box had been done but they did not have the part to change part of the clutch. The strange bit is though, that when my mum went to pick the car up, the woman said they did not have the part in stock, so nothing at all had been done.
Now why would VW arrange for a car to be took in to be fixed, then ring you to tell you its done, then when you go to pick it up, tell you nothings been done.
VW garages seem to be very incompetent.
I'm gonna phone them tomorrow and play HELL at them.

Great

my cars been in for the recall today, vw just phoned up to say that when they were replacing the part something got broken in the pedal box and no its undriveable, and they'll need to keep the car until they've got the part. tbh it hasn't suprised me in the least, i'm least i'm gettin a loan car, a 1.2 S, should be fun
ooo just realised it the new shape polo, not so bad afterall
