It works perfectly

It just changes the throttle curve. Basically it removes a lot of the laggy feeling, I am certain someone will say just out your foot down further, but it works better than that. I would recommend trying it, you can return it if you don't like it. Its very easy to turn on and off even while driving (as long as your off the pedal) so you can get a feel really quickly. It also had no effect on my economy or 2 cylinder mode.

So are we now saying the actual tuning box is pointless? If you dont notice its off then did it not really do much to begin with? Most boxes generally trick the sensors into just sending in more fuel. Maps from what i gather generally make changes to all parameters to compensate everything, could this be linked to the issues running with stop start?? Im sure i read the revo map gave issues at one point with stop start tho so may be an answer there somewhere?
Still looking at giving it ago with my xmas money but if its a waste of £400 may not now.

Interesting. It sounds as if you're saying it increases the sensation of speed w/o actually increasing the engine's power?? All things considered, if you could start over, would you recommend buying only the pedal box?

Yep, I sure would :/ It's so easy to disconnect you never need to worry about it and the Polo even has a little void space to put it in!

does the pedal box just act in the same way as a sport button like on the older astra sport hatches? When you pressed that it just made the car alot more responsive and it felt like the power was on tap alot quicker. Obviously the pedal box will always be on

Yeah that is exactly what it does. To be fair if you mount it right you can enable/disable it with one button.

when i had my astra i never turned it off. was miles better on. used to pick up alot better. found things like overtaking alot safer and pulling away from junctions

I am super impressed with it. Feels like it unlocks the engine. I think with a remap the pedal map might have been the big change not the extra power.

'Most boxes', at least the ones that aren't eBay specials, do not just trick the car into over fuelling. They work on more than one sensor, indeed my own box has three connections.
Don't think of remaps as the holy grail, a bad map is a bad map, regardless of whether it's in a box or flashed to an ECU.
Most remaps aren't as complex as people think, the tuners just upload a standard map usually developed by a third party and then if you're lucky they tune it to your car, but they usually charge different prices for generic vs rolling road setups.
Good boxes are not pointless, they do work, but there is an element of your 'butt dyno' getting used to any performance increase after a while, same with a map.
Your 1.2 TSI doesn't have start stop does it? It should be fine with a DTUK box, or similar quality one.
The start stop issues will be worked through, again a reputable company will probably be able to take it back and reflash it once a fix is found.
Tuning isn't for everybody having said that, best advice is if you're concerned then don't do it.

OK, so quick update. I have fixed my start stop issues by connecting the earth lead to the car body rather than the battery. I am also using the new FSR14 box. Which is smaller and has controls on top of the box.
Its working fantastically, love the 4th gear pull.
Will post a new thread with pics ect.
