Think there's a rad fan fuse on the top of the battery, might be worth checking?

If not, I'm not sure off hand. Think someone else had the same issue a while ago, ill have a quick search.

Of the. Battery, not clearly marked and not easy to tell
If blown,

Il take a look at that thread as I'm still stuck in the car which is pissing out coolant from the overflow in the tank, but I can't search the forum as I'm only using tapatalk. Il update in the next 10

The issues sound very similar is this the temp sensor (the green part) ?.

Also just seen what street I'm parked on...

And as I left her as a mate rescued me,

Anyway if it is that green sensor
I changed it 2 years ago so is possible that its gone again, but again peoples thoughts are appreciated,

Only 4 fuses? There's 8 on mine I think - 4 blade style ones, and 4 strips about 4-5cm long. It's on of the stripped ones that controls the rad fan (I think).

Did you use a proper VAG sensor? I had to change it on my Golf, and people said avoid 3rd party ones as they break/don't last.

Pretty sure that is the sensor though, if you can get hold of VCDS it might tell you if/why it's playing up/let you get readings from the sensors.

If I understand it, that sensor is working alright though, as it's giving an accurate (ie hot) reading to the dashboard, which ties in with it spewing coolant out, so I think the issue is elsewhere.

If you can, try (carefully!) touching the hoses coming into/out of the radiator. They should both be hot, if only one is (I think the top is the inlet) then I'd say it's the thermostat. Watch out though, as they do get hot as I'm sure you can guess!

Got the car home, friends dad had the same problem with his 16v turned out to be the thermostat housing so hopefully have that sorted ASAP !.

Currently doing my speakers, turns out crossovers aren't the easiest thing to do in a 6n2 due to there being no connection from the door into the car so gonna bridge it to speaker wires behind the head unit turning out quite expensive all this speaker cable etc !

Thermostats are a mechanical thing that open/close to allow water to pass. (Think they use wax which metls/solidifies depending upon temp of the water, and then lets the spring retract to open it.) That's just a sensor to get the temperature of the coolant.

I think the 'stat itself was about £12 when I got one for my Golf.

I'd expect you'd need something like this: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... f64&000325

Although I got one from ECP and it didn't fit, so had to return it. Went to VW in the end and it's fine now. They tend to carry a couple in stock too. :)

I'd check with your mates dad, but I'd expect that's what he had to change.

Good luck!

Ecu temp sensor? Dash temp is still working, or fan relay, or just motor burnt out, get stuck in with the multi meter on the ecu temp, usually in the pipework not on the rad....
