You need to remove the airbag and look at the airbag part number to see if it is compatible as there are two possible steering wheels for your original configuration.
Take photos of the airbag hole in the steering wheel, that is where the possible differences lie.

I'm not sure, but I'm afraid that since your original steering wheel is made of 'rubber', the original airbag will not be compatible with the leather steering wheel with buttons... I hope you're lucky and I'm wrong.🤷‍♂️

Hello,
I currently have the original wheel with buttons only on the left. I wish to buy another steering wheel from a polo 5 with buttons on both sides, or maybe even from a polo 6 or golf 7. Do I still have to do all that wiring as if it was non msfw?

Thanks

Hi.
No, you just need to buy the right steering wheel (with airbag, airbag wiring and appropriate buttons).
From the slip ring to the BCM (LIN) - Fuse Box (+) - Earth (-) your 6R/6C? already has the correct wiring.

That's great, thanks!
Though with the current airbag problems I think I will wait a little since I need to buy also an airbag from what I see.
