and since parkers rate the 1.0 at 103mph top speed

110mph is as far as i've had mine with the induction and exhaust and a downhill stretch of road with a strong north-westerly prevailing wind behind me!

No matter how much extra fuel you can get it.
The gearbox wouldnt be able to get past 120mph.
The wind stops me, about 1krpm before the limiter.
So lets say the extra power got you to the limitter.
the gearbox would stop you being about to rev any further.

maybe it was a different speedo clock?

all the same i doubt it could make 120 even if the gearbox allowed it (not accounting for massive speedometer variance!). You really do need either some serious horsepower or a very large hill to make it there - I don't even think a stock GT would manage it, so 80, maybe 90hp required if not a full 100+ ... which is like doubling the power, and i can't see camming it giving more than an extra 50% under any circumstances, unless it has a VERY mild one to start with.

its a 1L MK4 so the speedo will end at 120MPH.

His dad is a mechanic and fitted them, i was told they cost around 130/150?

and that its fast.

i'll take one as well, because if that's true, i'll be able to make the old mk3 go faster than the 1.6 astra replacing it (assuming it ever fires again)

Do you know how a cam works?

Its a shaft that opens and closes the inlet, and exhaust valves.
All an upgraded cam does is, alters the time and and the lenth of time, the valves open.

Cams work along with:
induction (getting air in)
exhaust (getting air out)

if the cams are built for your car, they match your ehaust, and inlet.
So if the air can get in easier, and get out more freely, they can ajust the lenth of time the inlet valve can open.

then the mapped ECU can tell the spark plugs when to fire, and the injectors to fire.

There is no way, I would buy a set of cams from Halfords

Cams in the head.

Valves.

I think all that is correct, but please correct anything Ive mixed up.

which in turn means, if you havent got the extra fuel, and increased manifold/exhaust system the cams wont really do much more than a standard cam,

She can not understand, why I need and extra Â£800 for the custom cams I need to go with my trottle bodies
