All of the grilles were silver at one time, but the person i bought it off had painted them all black and had painted a red stripe on each grille, which was a bit OTT in my opinion hence me spraying them all black.

I might do the black pillars, has anyone got any close up photos of them on a silver one so i can make my mind up please :)

Its just a case of finding a decent quality vinyl and sticking it on right ?

50mm does sound a little low by the looks of it, if I didn't know any better I would say it's down 40mm

And black pillars - it's in the guide 8)

"These are done via either Vinyl or painted on. For vinyl, go to ebay and type in Viper Stripes, only cost about 5 pounds.
To get them painted professionally, expect to pay 50+ pounds."

I got bored last night so i decided to have a play around with my door pins as they have always bugged me.

Using just a pair of pliers, this mod took me only a few minutes to complete.

All i had to do was to unscrew the door pin, cut down the metal bar using the pliers and then put the door pins back on.

I used glue dots to stick the pins back on, but blue tack would do as well. You will only be pushing these down and you will never be pulling on them because they will be sitting flush when locked and you dont need to pull on them for any reason when the car is unlocked ;)

Next on the list is gonna be de-wipering the back window, i have bought some coilovers off ebay so they should be here in a week or two and i have got some vinyl to do my B pillars, but need a helping hand as i tried to do it on my own and wrecked the vinyl.

Shortening doorpins is quite a popular mod, simple but efffect 8)

The door pins on my old new beetle used to sit flush when locked so it was buggin me on the polo because i would lock the car then think it was still unlocked because the pin was sticking up.

Its such an easy modification to do and it looks a million times better

Exactly, it's done on alot of other vag cars too, I can't why they didn't do it on the GTi, it's more secure, helps prevent someone breaking the window and just yanking it up.

I was led to believe that if someone was to try and yank it up, it would yank it back off them, similar to what the mk3 golfs do.

I cant say i ever tried this though

i know yeah, and they were screwed down fully as well, that is why i decided to chop them down, cause they looked out of place.

Shortened pins look great. I might have to break out the pliers myself! :)

You may or not remember that I bought some coilovers from ebay, the TA TECHNIX ones from a memeber called streetweartuning. (A seller to stay clear of if your thinking about buying anything from him)

They took well over a month to arrive and were only sent out after i started chargeback claim through paypal :( The seller wouldnt even reply to any emails that i sent him.

However they did finally arrive (minus one of the C spanners) and i have now had them fitted to the polo.

They are wound down approx 70-80mm and the ride is amazingly still comfortable and handles like its on rails

The coilovers are fantastic value for money and i recommend them highly, just make sure you dont get them from who i got them from.
