Had a long and somewhat unproductive day yesterday. On Thursday night I checked my tyre tread. Sudden urge thing, seeing as I'm driving it to Brum next week. Anyway, I found that the o/s rear tyre which has been just over the tread depth indicator for a while now is now just under it.
Damn, new Bridgestone RE720 = £70 ish
So got up on Friday and phoned around for a new one, got best quote of £66 balanced and fitted {325} and placed an order due to arrive on Monday.
Ten minutes later my phone rings, I'm told that there's a 2-6 week wait on Bridgestone 720s in that size.
Ah, crap.
Called another tyre stockist, who were only a fiver more expensive and asked them if they could get one in. Nope.
NOOOOOO!
I wanna stick to one brand of tyres on my car, and I really like Bridgestones.
Ummed and ahhed for a while, then made a decision.
Time to put my steelies back on!

It's really strange seeing it without alloys, as for the 5 years I've had the car it's had steel wheels for mabye 2 months of that (at separate times).
It's even stranger driving it. The ride is softer and the steering is lighter, it's not too bad to drive but there's no feedback through the steering wheel and considerably less grip than I'm used to.
I don't reckon it looks too bad though, what do you think?
