I'm desperate for help - please?!!Steve_O wrote:I've started noticing this recently when I pop to the shops etc, like just now when I went to the post office.
It's a good ten minute drive, so the engine gets nicely up to temperature. I park up - walk about 30 metres to the postbox - walk back - start it up...
It idles fine for about 5 seconds - then starts to struggle and eventually dies. It'll do this again and again unless I drive off in those 5 seconds.
What do you think's the matter?? - It idles fine when cold!!

I measured the resistance of the blue temp sender when cold (~10 degrees) as about 4400 Ohms and when warm (~80 degrees) about 400 Ohms, so according to the article on polo-gt.co.uk, that should be about right...
I'm gonna try a few other things - but other than that I'm at a complete loss!!5k to 6.5kohms at 0C,
3.2k to 4.2k at 10C,
2.1k to 2.9k at 20C,
1k to 1.4k at 40C,
520 to 670 ohms at 60C
280 to 370 ohms at 80C
I can't even pull away after a warm start now - it just dies no matter what i do!! Once it gets going tho, it's completely fine. I tried keeping the revs up just after starting and it still died!! Again, it starts fine from cold!!
The only thing I can think I may have done to my car before this started happening was to fill it with super unleaded and add some redex.
I did notice it smelt a bit rich, so I'm gonna do a CO test on it now. Is it possible a faulty lambda probe is causing this??
PLEASE HELP!!
