Found out yesterday my VW Golf 1.8T has the same remote as a VW Polo GTi.
My g/f has a Polo GTi and parked it next to my car the other day. I went out to unlock my car, pressed the remote and both the Polo and the Golf unlocked. Locked my car and both the Polo and the Golf locked again. With both cars, the indicators flashed on unlocking and locking.
Tried it the other way round but strangely, the Polo remote had no effect on my locks.
Not sure if anyone else knows about this, whether it's a known fault or something, but it's not too good.
Do you lot reckon it's worth contacting VW over?
How secure is your Polo GTi?
I would contact them. It does sound familiar.
I had the same problem with a Toad alarm on my old car. Stangely my girlfriend and myself had C4 alarms fitted at the same place and the remotes would open both cars (well open hers and disarm mine, mine wasn't RCL). Had it fixed in the end but they said it was a 1 in a million chance of it happening or something... didn't believe them.

Now, I would PAY for that feature!Nelson_Wilbury wrote:This does happen on VERY rare occasions. I think its all to do with the frequency.
A couple of months back we had a customer with an Audi A" who had her key recoded. No problem other than when she locked/unlocked her car her front door bell would ring!!
