When puttin petrol/diesel in!

Post by Polo-03 »

When you guys are putting your petrol/diesel in what do you do with your petrol cap?

Ok this sounds like a weird question but the reason I'm asking is that I find it really annoying because it is attached to the car on a small rubber string. It has to just dangle down on to the side of my car and I always end up gettin diesel all down the side! Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? Iam scared incase it ruins the paint work either by scraching it or by the diesel.

Look carefully at the design of petrol-cap...and you'll see that you can actually "hook" it onto the top outer petrol cap. This can still be a bit daunting, I always stand by when a petrol attendant puts fuel in my car - I even open the outer cap myself.

Yeah, I use the little cut outs on the cap, and I then attach the cap to the top of the flap (if you understand)

Ciden... Over here almost all petrol stations are self service (ie you pour the petrol yourself, then go and pay)... I found it very strange when I lived in Spain, as almost all petrol stations have guys pumping the fuel for you.

All I used to say was "Maximo" or something to that effect (as I don't speak Spanish) and they'd fill her up (I had a 1L 3-Cyl Seat Arosa while I was there... That engine sounded fantastic!).

As it was a company car, I didn't worry what they did with the fuel cap!

I never knew either...I probably won't have one as SEAT thought it was too expensive to put in...I'm going to check now!
