finally I've found a Polo Gti at a dealer

Post by 13twelve »

which I have to cos my current mk4 isnt in good nick and I want to bone the dealer by giving them my car (rather than a private buyer)

so

they have for me a polo gti -
2001 Y
3dr
red
38,000
full service
£6995

ok so i wanted black and i dont know if this ones got leather (its being picked up today)

from what I can gather, the 40k service aint cheap, so i'll have to make them throw that in

and as i do want it black, how much is it gonna cost me to get it made black?

anything else i should question etc?

If you want black, wait for one too come up. I had to wait ages for mine, checking autotrader everyday. To get it made black will be alot, i dont really know but im guessing £1500+ I dont think they'll throw that in. I got mine from a vw dealers and got MOT, 6months tax, Service, wheels refurbished, and about £200 of the windscreen price, 1 year warrenty (very useful when your cam tensioner fails) and 1 year vw assistance (also very useful when your cam tensioner fails and you need a tow to the dealers), Oh and the pedal box replaced but the recall was at the same time i was buying mine.

I would definitely wait for a black car to come up! VW won't cover the cost of a respray to change it from red to black, and like Neil says, it'll cost £1500-2000 if not more :?

Just get a red one, and with the £2000 you save by keeping it red get a turbo conversion

Hey thats great news mate,

If you really want a black one then may be you should wait although having said that red is not all that bad, it'll be cheaper to buy a black one rather than a red one and then paint it black, plus people may think you are a bit strange!

Red will be cheaper when painting mods as it's not a pearlescent paint and therefore cheaper plus red also is a good colour to show off any mods you make, whereas black is too dark hence not many black cover cars and cars featured in magazines!

Red's are a rare colour too, it would be criminal to change it from standard

Yep, quite rare. I've seen a freshly-washed-and-polished red GTI in the metal and the colour really is nice 8)
