Just Drove.......

Post by SpikeyG40 »

A seat leon Sport!

dan is thinking about changing his polo, so we went to look at a seat leon sport 1.8 20v turbo 180bhp.

the car had all the gadgets including alarm, imobiliser, sports seats, climite control, the list goes on!

both of us had a drive and we both thought it was rather nice! power delivery is very smooth and you can really tell there is a turbo under the bonnet. and the 6 speed box is very good too! does 60mph ish at 2,500rpm! not bad!

still, i personally would have the g40!

has anyone else driven one and what are your thoughts??

Test drove an Octavia vRS - same engine (and chassis?).

Anyway I felt it was definitely fast, but that the real excitement only seemed to be present with speed. Low down, it wasn't all that engaging -- although the torque was impressive.

I didn't buy it because I felt that I would always be looking for that fun factor just through speed alone and this wasn't enough for me. It was also rather risky from a licence point of view.

But you can not argue with that engine. Personally, if he's looking at a Leon, I'd suggest seeing if he can stretch to a Cupra R (even for appearance if nothing else). I've seen a few of these down at 12k to 13k -- but you might have to go up to Scotland to get one at this price...

Just my 2p.

I've driven the new golf GTi, and found it pretty awesome. Lots of power all over the place. Not as fast at the top end as my current car but much better for longer trips.

Also a Audi 3.2 Quattro FSI with DSG. At least I'm assuming that's what it is. Didn't feel that much faster than the golf (!) but the dsg box makes a hoooge difference and if you can use the launch control like they say you can then it would be pretty sweet down santapod.

Reminds me there is a CTR meet at santapod on sunday. I would love to go up against a G40 while I've still got the CTR if anyone is interested??

the leon cupra R is very nice and the body kit is smart, however, this is more your wolf in sheeps clothing kinda thing! plus 12k is abit out of his price range! thanx for the info though!

i found the ride to me very ncie, not too harsh and yet still quite sporty! o and its got the traction control button as well! which is ummmmm fun! i gave it a bit of throttle, dan was a bit more reserved!

And if your lucky with the cupra/sport you might hit 200bhp with out mods.

My friend at work recently bought one and was more than chuffed when he went on a rr and it got 202bhp.

I haven't been in it yet but i do like the car! 8)
