My brother's home for easter and he's already got his PC setup and hooked into the home network - and carrying on where he left off in aber with his P2P downloading. Currently his machine is bogarting all the bandwidth and making what was previously a sweet 1mbit link (shared between my pc and mums laptop) into a 28.8k modem kind of speed.
Is there a way to claw some of the packets back to "our" side of the equation? Even if it comes down til waiting until he and his GF are out on the town and doing something in BT itself?
Bloody Bit Torrent!

Im just New to this Torrent downloading, I am using Bit lord to download and have Tried the Bit torrent.
What does everyone find best and why ?
And how can i speed up my downloads. I have read the above and now limited my Uploads to 5Kbps, I also have the 1Meg.
Personally i find the Bit Lord better than bit torrent cos it seemed faster and was a lot easier to work.

i'm not sure if my router actually allows that, but as the household's resident netadmin i'm duty bound to look i guess!
otherwise i'll just have to resort to sic'ing netlimiter on his machine - we only have a pitiful 128kbit upload allowance, and the connection appears to be a sad half-duplex job, so any major sends from this end (and he had 2x 4kbyte and one 5kbyte one on the go when i looked - ie about 100kbit.....) really munch the download bandwidth to the tune of 8x....!
prefer to find some setting in BitTorrent itself that would slow it without me having to install anything - he find out as easily or blow his top so hard when/if he does in that case.... i've never used the prog myself but i know the setting exists in other things such as direct connect, kazaa, napster, ares.... ?!?!
rather not screw his TCP/IP up or anything like that - the chances of me directly sending anything to him over the network (or at least, giving much of a damn about the speed he can copy stuff from my network shared folders) are pretty slim, but he'll be going back to uni who-knows-when and return to a much higher capability system --- might smell a rat if he's still only getting 64k up / 256k down there!
thanks for the inputs
EDIT: I hate it when i'm right... well, almost --- downloading Mac's golf gti video and only getting about 7kbyte/sec average (or, 56kbit..) instead of about 100.... ouch! This means war..
