This is my Polo's latest mod (well, accessory), an OEM luggage net for holding stuff in the boot.

Seen here holding my backpack and a kiddy toy bucket (for my sandcastle building you see)
Highly recommended for those who don't have ICE components mounted in the cargo area. This net is actually for the Audi A3 but it's offered as VW accessory in several countries (France for instance, that's where I got the part number from, at the VW website).
I stuffed a lot of objects of different shapes and sizes in the boot for a test run and things were kept well in place. The net is very elastic (for large objects) but is also tight. The only complaint I may have is that the attachment points in the Polo are a bit too high and that restricts the net's ability to hold smaller objects (it's held a bit far from the boot floor).
Another possible complaint is a consequence of this luggage net being from the Audi A3: the hooks that attach it are a bit smaller than they should be.

I assumed this was the correct way to attach, and it works fine. But...

Notice that the loop on the boot wall is too thick for the hook to attach properly.
I only found that out after testing the luggage net with several different objects and cargo arrangements, and after pulling it strongly several times - and in all cases there was no sign of any problems with the net! But, in my obssessive attention for detail, I had to check the hooks, and sure enough they weren't the right size! This however WILL NOT affect the luggage net, not even in very bad road surfaces where one would assume the hooks might 'jump' and release the cargo. As I said, I only found out about the size difference at a later inspection.
Also, I'm assuming European Polos have same size and shape metallic loops for attachment. Maybe you guys have smaller loops (and in that case I'll need part numbers!

Luggage net stretched out and holding its original plastic container. Container useful for keeping tools etc.!
Thanks for Martyn at VAG parts for sending me one of these, all the way from England and at a great price! £20 cheaper than what my local Audi dealers would charge, nearly 50% savings!
Cheers,
Carlos
