I'm guessing that somewhere in that blurry pile of engine components lies a nice little supercharger?

mmm supercharged goodness.

So what happened with the 1400cc conversion, or the 1.4 16v?

Pretty obvious really  (suddenly hoping you're guessing it's a G40 engine)

Well actually that pic is just the engine, gearbox and wiring loom. The charger was tucked away in the passenger footwell nice and safe. 8)

I've wanted this for so long I've hardly let it out of my sight. If it wasn't so grubby I'd have it sat on the coffee table in the lounge so I could stare at it!

Well... what can I say, so much for plans!

I was dead set on not getting a G40 and going for something different but nothing makes as much sense quite frankly! Ditched the 1.4 because it doesn't offer huge gains over a 1.3 without lots of work which I can't be bothered with. Ditched the 16v because while it's cheap it'd be a ballache to fit and it's just not a G40.

What I have there is a 71705 mile G40 engine which has been pulled from a mint car with a full service history. In fact the SH is so extensive that there's even the receipt for the 1,000 mile service in there. It's had lots of new stuff like a new water pump and head gasket and is just itching to replace that GT engine.

I can't wait for my exams to finish... this can't stay in bits for long, I MUST fit it!

I think the car may have been resting on its bump stops for the journey home, it was very low. Lower than it looks in that pic as anyone who saw it will vouch for. I had to drive across the Peak District to Dan's at about 40-50mph swerving to avoid potholes!

Nice, I was impressed with the setup you had in your boot. Everything was there you could need, for the conversion. Your downpipe will be done pretty soon.

Well done! I'm glad you got your engine.

Are you planning to do this yourself or get someone to help? We'll have a chat sometime as I may be looking at an engine swap later in the year myself.
