the words "needle" and "haystack" come to mind.

there are a few that crop up all over the UK, but if you really want one with leather- you will have to do what i did - wait patiently. I spent nearly over 5 months looking for the right car mate - and just like you, it was the leather that sold it to me.

I even went to a stealer at one point and they only had two polo GTI's in their entire UK database. you just have to keep looking and hope you get lucky.

other option is to buy a gti and get the seats trimmed, more expensive but if youbudget for it you might be able to do it within about £6K

like i said- waited patiently!!

milage is 57(ish)K with FVWSH and a stck of reciepts about 2 inches thick. had the cambelt tensioner done last year so shouldnt need to worry about that. :) also has a full closure clifford alarm -cant remember which one- could be a g5 or a concept 600- Im still finding out the spec of my car as i use it!

pics will be done within next couple of days. I bought it sunday but left it at mums place till last night as had petrol in my old car which needed to be used before i sell it.

as for the price, I dont think the guy knew what he was selling, I also had to travel 150 miles to buy and collect it. He was after £5000 but i haggled him down.

In fairness though, the rear bumper needs a respray (paintwork has flaked and cracked pretty badly - but only on the bumper- everywhere else is fine) and I need two new front tyres and an electric window switch- so all of that will cost me around another couple of hundred quid- still though, well worth the money :)

hate to say it but patience REALLY is a virtue- dont rush in and buy a dump, take your time. right one will turn up eventually :)

asking price? service history? milage?

the leather is no good if theres 150K and a shagged cylinder head under there!!!

post the specs and im sure people will offer up opinion- if its decent, then dont hang around- whilst i said patience is a virtue- you also have to know when the right car lands in your lap.

for what its worth i think that looks lovely- also has the centre armrest- mine doesnt :)

sounds good to me as well- has everything i have on mine plus the sunroof, the armrest and the audio.

If you can afford it I would go for it. £5,700 is going rate in my opinion, the options make it worth tht much- if you can have it for £5,500 I think you will have got a good deal :)

on resale the three doors tend to be the pick of choice- 5 doors sort of dont make much sense!

Its a hot hatch so people expect that if its not in good condition then its prolly been abused, so the not-so-good gtis dont sell.

Took me a while to find one.

spotted some nice ones on AT, often they were just a little out of what i considered sensible travelling range for something i might not ever go few again.
