Post by wul3er »

Could someone please help me solve a problem i have.

When i find a pics i like on the Net usually i can Right click > Save as then choose .Jpg

But recetnly it has only allowed me to save as a Bitmap (.bnp)
I've been trting to figure out why it has been doing this for a while but had no success.
It was really annoying tonight when i was trying to save a Animated pic (.gif) and i could only save it as a .bnp, Non animated.

Please help.

I get that as well m8. Seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer, stoopid Microsoft
I use the Firefox browser (click here) for saving images. I just copy the address of the image into Firefox and save it that way.
To be fair Firefox is a better browser than Internet Explorer, I just use Internet Explorer out of habit
It is a bit of a hassle but so far I haven't found a fix for it.

you need to clear your temporary files:

tools > internet options > under temporary files, choose delete files.

Will do the job.

Its internet explorer being an arse. Also windows running out of memory and resources (as the two are closely linked - IE seems to have "memory holes"). If you must insist on using that browser, be sure you have a reasonable amount of RAM, get your system optimised up, cleaned and protected against viruses and spyware that might choke it, make sure you don't have any unneccessary stuff running, and get hold of a handy shareware memory recovery util like MemMax.

Alternatively get a different browser, like firefox or opera. They're not perfect either, but they don't have these more pressing problems. (Old skool Netscape is about as bad, unfortunately).

* I still have IE installed, but only use it for pages neither of the other browsers can properly handle - usually because they've been written with code including non-standard quirks that make it look better in IE but no other browser accepts as proper code as it looks "buggy" to them

not just to view certain pages mate, you should be ditching MSIE as a matter of course. think of it as the chavved up nova of browsers if that makes it any easier.

i've actually used some little known (stumbled across) hackotrickery to install win95 on the laptop totally free of internet explorer and it's OS-infesting tendrils.. and yknow what.. ive never seen win9x run so quick or lean even though it's on a decidedly lacklustre machine.
