I have a problem......help!!!

Post by clees »

I need help!!!

Yesterday i changed my spark plugs and cleaned out my throttle body and until now it was running alot better. However from 5.00pm today it's been loosing power on acceleration and chugging as if it's back firing. The exhaust emission light has come on the dashboard.

I have taken it down the motorwy thinkin it would clear any rubbish out.

E.g . Earlier on i was doing around 120mph with no problem came off at junction and on return journey i was struggling to get to 90mph in 4th gear.

The problem is intermitent and could do with any help!!

please!!

thanks :?

[sensible head]Speed limit is 70mph... ahem[/sensible head]

Ive only ever noticed the lack of acceleration/speed on cold mornings, which we havent had for a while!

Have you put the leads back in the correct position/order cos this will mess up the timing etc!

Yes, all plugs are on right... think i've found the problem.

The spark plugs which i bought from halfords which say they are suitable for polo have 4 pins at the end where the spark is created, however the ones that i pulled out which were original ones have 3 pins. i spoke to a mechanic who stressed to me that it is very important that you replace the plugs with identical ones cause if not it messes everything up!

Hope the above makes sence..Will let you know how i get on!! :?
