Little bit of a Race with an S3

Post by M@Turner »

Alright guys. Just had a bit of a blast against an S3, in my Polo GTi.

Started off when we was going on a dual carriage way with a few lorry's on it. Anyways this dual carriage way leads upto a major roundabout where the first exit is onto the M1. Decided to just put my foot to the floor and fly up the outside lane of the slip road. Left the S3 behind for a good few seconds. Had to slow down tho cus the slip road only goes into 1 lane and there was a car in the way. As i slowed down the S3 began too catch up and just as we got onto the M1 the S3 had the momentum so gradually went past. Kept my footy planted and he didn't seem to be leaving me behind but after 4 miles i had to turn off at the next junction. Gutted

Love having blasts against cars that are slightly faster. Shame it doesn't happen more often.

I love those S3's, nicely understated...

I'd have thought it would make mincemeat of the polo though, so you did well!

some of the bigger audis are real sleepers.

take the old S2 avant.
old estate car with no real sense of presence till you get inside and spy the extra gauges, real carbon firbe trm, then you drive it and experiance a porche eating 300 ponies and the potential for a lot more (read same base engine as the dahlback golf) all flowing through a nice chassis with 6spd and 4 wheel drive using a form of slippy diff (3 off) all for under 6 grand nowerdays.

then theres the a6 all road.
cabin adjustable air suspension for the giggle, and a 2.7 v6 TDI 4 wheel drive and enough toys to put play school to shame!!!!

I think the S3 was suprised aswell that i was racing. I think once he'd got ahead of me, he just wanted to stay ahead by a few metres.

Still, its ace having little races with other cars as long as your not driving like an arse.

You sure it was an S3?

A 1.8T A3 would beat a Gti, an S3 would cain it

 Yes it was an S3. I'm quite good at identifying cars and i have no doubt in my mind it was anything else. I love S3's and hopefully i'll own one of them during my life. 8)

I'm fully aware a 1.8T and S3 would beat me, but if you catch them unaware when you accelerate its takes a while for them to catch up.

some how, i dont think a car having an extra 100 brake and 4wd is "slightly faster" than a polo gti....

Well, to be honest - you do present the GTI vs S3 encounter with a blatant (and understandable!) bias towards the GTI. You would have got totally wupped by a proper S3 if he was really trying. I had to work hard to beat an S3 and my ~160bhp G40 isn't exactly slow - certainly a hell of a lot quicker than a Mk5 Polo GTI.

Fair play for having a pop at a quicker car though!

Bias towards the Gti wasn't meant but seen as i own a Gti, i suppose i aint gonna slag it off am i.

I would have thought that people would have realised that i aint bigging my own car or driving skills up, just posting something that people might be interested to read. Guess i was wrong tho!

So......you've got a G40 then. A true wolf in sheeps clothing car. 8)
