This is just a comment really, just to say I'm amazed how much torque Polo's have!
Considering my GT engine will rev to 6500+ and still give power, it has amazing low down grunt. For example, it will pull up a slight gradient in third at tickover, and pull up to over a ton from 17mph in fifth!
Even my 4 speed 1043 SPi CL had similar torque, yet you could rev the b*ll**ks off it (no tacho you see), and it still gave power. It would pull from 15mph happily in fourth. The GT will pull up my street, which is quite steep, happily in fifth at 20mph.
I'm just not used to this, after having a Mini! The 1275 A series from a Mini is nice, but just not as torquey or revvy as this VW engine. How did VW built such a good, smooth engine?? Or am I just discovering the delights of modern cars??
Sorry if thats all a bit rambling, I just felt it was about time I said something about it!
Tom
(ps - I know my GT should have 75bhp at the fly, any idea of a torque figure for it?)
