Does anyone know the type of paint used on the calipers? I was having a closer look the other day and i must say it kind of doesnt look like paint if you know what i mean, looks more like a thin plastic coating or something. The only caliper paints i have found so far are brush applied, and no doubt have a very glossy finish to it, which is not what i want, kinda like the matt finish. any advice would be great

I think your brakes would have been glossy when it came out the factory, it's only matt now over time with the heat and the sunlight...mine turned pink yet was still nice and red behind the calipers.

Touch it up with some red caliper paint from Halfords.

use coloured hamerite.

caliper paint is simply high temperature resistant paint. hamerite has exactly the same properties. given that you want a matt finish its probably more suited to your application

Yeah mate. Hammerite will do fine. I recently painted mine after changing my pads and discs. Just rub them down with a wire brush to take off the dust and flaky paint first and you will be sorted.

or use some t-cut (really!) on them and bring them back to their original vibrant red finish ! I did this with mine which were bloody pink and filthy, and after the t-cut and a quick coat of some megs nxt gen wax they looked superb, take the wheels off and do the whole calliper properly and they come up great
