Help Help trouble with my cl 1litre gt conversion

Post by deathhour »

Having trouble with my conversion

swapped the engines and partially swapped the wiring looms. Swapped the ECU and its wiring also swapped the wiring from the left socket of the fuse box but not the right side.

The starter motor did work but the ignition coil didn't kick in?

Do you have any suggestions on how the remedy this??

You've answered it yourself.

You've only swapped half the loom over. You need to swap both sides, as the plug for the coil is different on the GT. It's possible to bodge it, but just sawp everything from the fusebox and back.

Back in the day when I stuck GT injection on my CL I had exactly the same problem - only part of the GT engine loom. Half an hour with a Haynes manual and a soldering iron saw it sorted.

do you remember what parts of the wiring loom you had to soiler together? I'm completely lost now, now even the starter motor doesn't work??

the main lights did work but the indicators didn't work from the start??

and the wires to the ignition coil and distributor don't seem to have any power going into them even though that wiring loom is from the gt loom???

is the left fuse box wiring loom reflect the fuses 1-8 and the right fuse box wiring loom for the 9-16 fuses?

:o :o :o

finally managed to start the engine about a few minutes ago connected the wires next to the ignition coil red/black and black to the corisponding wires had to get my wire cutters out.

earthed the brown one but don't really need to do that, the brown wire off of the gt wiring loom.

connected my old cl wiring loom to my new gt one through those wires.

Also had to reconnect the fuse box wires because i didn't realise the socket connects behind the fuse box fell into the hole

Just need to get an old cl fan because only have the two connector that goes into the back of a cl radiator fan and not a three pin socket that goes into a gt fan

thanks for all the help, didn't need to buy another gt loom for the right hand side of the fuse box. thank goodness found it hard to found one lol
