well, wednesday, it was tipping down, i'm stuck at an intersection, with traffic infront, it moves forwards, lights are green - change to amber, with the ford transit connect infront of me, he'd just started to go over the line as it went amber.
he stopped.
i didn't
if i could post pictures i would. i wasn't even moving as such, but boy have i f**ked the car up. his rear left caught my front right - broke the headlight and indicator, shoved them back, tore the lower front bumper, dented and pushed back the front wing, and rolled the edge of the bonnet over...
well yes it was my fault, but what the f**k?!? who slams their brakes on as they are about to go over the line when it changes to amber?!?!
anyway, phoned my insurance, its going to an approved bodyshop next wednesday, i've been told they use genuine vw parts and ici paint - so i hope my baby comes back to me looking okay.
i felt so sick, only had the car two weeks, and the day i got it the cluch went (well ten minutes after buying it - privately - grrrr)
well my insurance is gonna go through the roof come renewal. i miss driving it already
i just hope they do a good job.
i'll email pics if someone else is able to post em for me.
have any of you guys had your polos repaired? have they come back looking the same?
feeling bloody miserable
f**k it - one damaged gti
Gah! That really sucks, sorry to hear about it mate
I would have been surprised when the car in front stopped too, just goes to show you can't be too careful - I know a few people who have been caught out the same way because the driver in front has had a change of heart and not gone after all - roundabouts are the usual suspects, when the driver in front is more interested in changing the radio station than pulling out into the gap in the traffic that is about to open...
I had my Polo repaired in April after a front-end bump - the damage wasn't quite so bad, I didn't damage the headlights but did need a new front bumper including all the necessary grilles/foglights/AC components, and the front wings and bonnet were resprayed as part of the repair work. It came back looking good as new, with the added benefit of having no stonechips on the front bumper
I'm very happy with the work that was done, those of you who got to VWNW will have seen the car (there are some pictures in the Club House I think) and only one guy mentioned the respray work, think he's a user on porka. He walked up and we got chatting about GTi's in general but it only took him about 4 or 5 seconds to ask if a respray had been done
'cos he spotted the new paint has got more flecks in it and looks ever so slightly brighter. His mate works in a bodyshop though, so he knew what to look for
I'm sure the bodyshop will do a good job, don't worry. I had to do without my Polo for a couple of weeks and was extremely happy to have it back after the work was done!
Chin up mate. You'll have her back in no time

Re: f**k it - one damaged gti
i know of a person who reversed into a post and totally f****d the back bumpers. We went down to the scrappy and got a new one. A days worth of sanding, spraying etc and his car looks good. And we done it with spray cans in my garden.nickpolo wrote:

If a body-shop sorts it out it should be fine. And your pride and joy should be back to its former glory.
