i've got a slight missfire and what seems to be an idle problem when i start the car again after doing a journey! think its the idle control valve (?) n e ideas??

put new plugs in it, as it had GT plugs in for some reason, still yet to do the leads, dizzy cap and rotor!

also engine/charged makes a rattling noise at certain revs and makes a squeek noise coming back down to idle after revving!

will be looking into charger rebuild very very soon i think!

Does the rattle happen about 2000rpm? Could be big end? Check its not your alternator rather than your charger. If your charger is rattling I'd be very worried indeed.

Disconnect the blue temp sensor (with engine running already) or the lambda probe to revert the ECU to default parameter and see if the misfire is still there. That'll tell you if its a sensor problem (it is disappears, its a sensor problem) or ignition (hall sender, or coil, or leads - just simply check the condition of your dizzy and rotor arm instead of replacing these straight away).

Idle problem, more likely Idle Stabilisation Valve (ISV), disconnect the short vac/boost pipe from plastic boost pipe to ISV, and spray carb cleaner down it to clean it.

the rattle happens at 3k rpm. how can i describe the sound. i would say, imagine a nut on a metal tray placed on ur engine. as u rev the engine the vibrations make the nut rattle! sounds like that!

i don't think its the big end, would of thought it would of made a hell of a lot more noise than that! will be investigating this weekend but tbh, i think its probably the charger! will be getting it serviced very soon! :o

thanx for the info mate, will be checking some of this stuff this weekend!

Disconnect your charger and rev the engine without it. Eliminates the charger.

Poss, valve.

When I bought mine, from Matt, it was running 184 (r/r print out)...but the melted piston kinda meant none were available!!

Its been with Race Power for the last 5 weeks, hopefully when it returns it'll be tickling the 200 mark....hopefully slightly over!!! :D

Once mapped by the top DTA mapping guru in the UK, a certain Mr S Grinnell, I should be pushing 240-250bhp.

Mine's only been lightly breathed on, should be about 135-140bhp. Still fun though! :D

As Paul said yep I did!!!

The work done to it my Matt was incredible!!! most of the credit goes his way!!!

Spoke to Andy @ Race Power...the engine should be ready a week today!!! Not that I'm excited at all

Just not looking forward to the 1000 miles of running in & then the cost of having it customed mapped! but no way I'm taking any risks!

Yeah mine is ready pretty much next week too. Just got to put on the windage plate and baffled sump, and the solid lifter Big Valve head is being redone by Andy for even bigger inlet and exhaust valves, full on ultimate race is the only way!
