hello there, i finally got my g40 sorted out (charger rebuild, new s/s exhust, new K&N n clifford g5)n left with just 2 last things to upgrade...
Suspension and brake master cylinder
i was wondering,as my car is lowered 40m, can i have a lower strut brace on the car? or will it hit everything i try to go over like speed humps?
thank you for viewing

You say it is lowered 40mm. Is this just a mk3 polo kit that is 40mm that will fit a G40 or is this a G40 specific kit that is a geniune 40mm lower?
There are strut braces around for the polo but perhaps AW Tracksport would have one for this sort of situation, if not they could probably build you a custom one.
You can get strut braces that bolt between the rear struts in the boot and I have seen engine bay strut braces. Perhaps these may be a better idea if you are unsure of practicality.

Ged McConville's brace bars are worth having, they tighten up the front end quite a bit and help avoid chassis leg breakage. Don't know if he's still making them though, and he's not on here.
Strut brace wise, I thought that the upper strut braces were mainly a cosmetic mod on a Mk3, and the lower front strut brace is the one that does the business?
I'm very interested to hear AWT make custom ones too! That sounds like a decent solution there, as, being custom and all it'll be to your requirements. I know that the idea of scraping a brand new strut brace on speed bumps has been an offputting idea for me, so I'm not surprised you're wary. Does your centre box catch on speed bumps? Mine does, hence the worrying.
I ran a rear strut brace on mine between the shock towers, and it did make a difference to handling, problem is it also had an adverse effect on boot space which (for now) I can't afford. So I sold it on. One day, when it's less of a daily driver I'll probably get another one mind.
Ged was also planning on making a brace bar to go between the tops of the suspension struts on a Mk3, but I don't think that ever went ahead. They'd have been ideal for me for now, as they wouldn't compromise boot space.

Sorg motorsport and Weichers do a lower front strut brace for polos lowered more than 40mm. Have a look at them.
If you want the maximum ground clearance you can get the cup braces from germany.
I use a Sorg lower front strut brace on my blue GT and it was one of the best chassis upgrades I've spent my money on....
Eventually when I get my blue GT sorted in will have new G40 TCA's along with the Sorg lower strut brace, nylon ARB blocks, ged brace bar. Also a set of salzmann top mounts for the front and a rear strut brace between the top mounts.
