does anyone know how much vw charge for a clutch cable for the polo gti, and also, how much they'd charge to fit one?

id say take it a private VW/Audi specialist garage...

VW dealer will charge a silly amount

agreed, or a clutch specialist, I used Mr.Clutch

VW will rip you to shreds on labour charges :shock:

how much have gti oowners paid for a new clutch cable to be fitted?
ive been quoted £70 for the cable and fitting at a vw garage by a vw mechanic doing it privately for me, is this ok ?

Thats a reasonable price for supply and fit, the actual cable does not cost much under 30 squid or so

Just like my mum and dad's old Audi Cab, for a new wire that opens the door, they were quoted about £60 supply and fit, they're friend got the cable for about a tenner! My mum and dad just gave him £20 to do it.

He works at a place in Bedford called VW Panels so knew what he was doing :D

Yep, fairly often, the parts are cheap, just the labour is high - sometimes the labour cost is unjustifiably high :roll: :evil: for some tasks
