urgent help needed please?! GT Engine number...

Post by minis84 »

Hey

Where do I find the engine number on a GT? Someone has helpfully removed the sticker from the boot, so I need to know where else I can find it?

Is it stamped on the VIN plate?

Cheers!

The engine code is 3F. Is that what you're after? That number is printed in your V5

The number is stamped on the block just above the alternator mounting bracket. There's a small recess in the head which exposes a bit of the surface of the block, it's almost certainly be covered in grease and muck but you'll be able to see it if you clean it up.

No, the engine number is stamped on the flywheel side of the block just below the deck level. The majority of them you can't read and even when they are cleaned up with a wire brush it's not always clear.

well....I looked in the owners manual and it showed it as being on the block under the dizzy housing.

Had a look and couldn't see it, then looked just below deck level and found a barcode sticker-like thing, with a 10 digit number on - i'm assuming this to be the engine number? It was hidden not far from the thermostat housing, behind the water hoses.

hmmm, ok I'll have another look when its light enough.

I need it to make sure the details on the V5 etc are accurate!

Yeah, tis under the dizzy on the block, just above the gearbox bellhousing.

I can just about see mine, after wire brushing it down.

If it's very difficult to see, clean it down and rub a bit of chalk on the surface, and it should bring the number up quite well.
