rubbing

Post by bell »

need some more advice as this site seems to know wat its talkin about ;)

fitted some 14 inch bbs off a golf onto the olop now although the tyre sizes are a. to big for my liking and b look terrible i love the wheels
problem i have is they are rubbing to death so could any one advise me on the spacers i will need to stop this and could you also tell me iff im correct in saying that if i was to change the tyre size from 185/60/14 to a 175/50/14 it would give the stretch look i want?
also how low can i go on the standerd shocks with different springs? i want 60mm if im honest but i dont know if thats just a little to much for stander v.a.g equipment

Get some 185/50 14 or 194/45 14 tyres. I would not recommend using standard shocks at all when lowering.

humm let me think about the car beings that im postin in the mk 3 section ;)

and i would buy new shocks springs etc but you see the polo is my budget run about i have a better toy waitin but its in the body shop then havin a full engine rebuild ( when i joined earlier inthe year it was in the body shop then aswell lol and it hasnt moved) so its all on a buget as far as the polo goes.

i wanted to do choice mods to improve the standerd look aka euro style but on a bit of a budget and im not worried about lowering on standerd shock as the car doesnt go over 50 anyway (to many points for speeding hence buy a slower car) my g4o was 40mm dropped on koni gear and it was great but hey i cant afford it.

as far as tyres i want the slanted stretched look but hey ill have to ask me tyre bloke about it

Well you could use standard shocks but the ride will be rubbish and too bouncy, likely causing rubbing which you are complaining about.

Also I guess the shocks on are standard and old and possibly on their last legs, using lowered springs will probably finish them off quickly.

Do yourself a favour and buy the correct size tyres which I mentioned (or use a tyre size calculator) then lower it with proper springs and shocks.

comments appreciated hard hitter but as i say the cars budget material the rubbing being caused is from the tyre being used on the wheels are to big i already new this and the shocks on the car dont look to bad. i cant afford to spend much as i have a daihatsu charade in the bodyshop and an engine whic is in mid overhaul thats gonna be more brute force than the polo ever will be i just wanted it to look half decent for the winter months etc that im goin to be carless ... wat can i say i hate standerd
