Seats On My GT Hatch

Post by rik1985austin »

Hi There, Just wondering if anyone knows how to remove and replace the cable on my seat. its the one that is attatched to the hooks at the bottom of the seat to enable you to let in rear passangers. Any help would be much apreciated :?

know how you feel mate, my cable went on my driver side, fourtunately it's a nice excuse why i don't have to get out if i'm dropping people off, but is annoying if i just want something off my back seat.
there was a guy just recently that had the same problem, i don't think anyone had a solution but tahrey said he was working on something.

heres the post if any of it helps.

Fold the seat forward..(feel for the 2 metal levers where the seat folds and pull them upwards)and on the bottom of the back support (with it folded forward) you will feel 4 metal hooks.
Bend these outwards and the material will pull off the hooks(theres a steel rod going lengthways through the material) and you will be able to gently pull it upwards off the seat frame (remember to remove the plastic lever used for tipping the seat forward and its surround..simply pull them off).
Once you have pulled the material so far up you will be able to see the 2 cables inside the frame, its then just a matter of unclipping the broken one and replacing it with a new one (either dealers of german swedish and french will gladly sell you a new one..i'd try the latter)

It sounds complicated and probably isn't explained very clearly but i did get out of bed less than 5mins ago lol.
