Advice on buying a Lupo GTI

Post by mfa-polo »

Traded my Polo GTI in for a 9n TDI 100, but have been thinking about getting a Lupo GTI on an 04 plate.

Does anyone have any experience with the Lupo? I know they share the same engine as the Polo, but with a 6 speed box.

Any advice would be appreciated.

its a rapid little bugger, it can surprise lots of cars out there.
centre exhaust does do it for me 8) too

however, the build quality seems a bit 'low' , as the doors feel very light and took me at least 3 attempts to shut it properly  because on the polo, you dont need to use so much force.
Bit small boot, about ~1/2 the boot of the 9n's so if u have a sub box, u wont have room at all.

Personally I think the lupo gti has some plus points on the polo but also bad points.

I like the front end of the lupo, it works really well, especially the grills and xenons. But i love the rear end of the polo and hate the rear of the lupo. The doors are also a worry. I dont wanna see the paint on the inside of my 14 grand car, thanks :D

I have a lupo GTI and love it. You have to remember that they have an ali bonnet, doors, wings etc which was one of the reasons for it costing a lot.

Visit the club lupi site for more info mate.

The only advantage I see getting a Lupo Gti over the Polo is a slight increase in 0-60. And again, paint on the interior of the car reminds me of a mini I had. Brill car but VW should mean refinement.

Things to look out for are the gearbox and squeaky dash.

The other advantage I see with the Lupo is that they are newer.
