Component Speakers
Elo everyone, I've just installed my new touch screen head unit, and while I was testing it I managed to blow my component speakers that are situated in the two front doors! I was just wondering what size I will need to replace these? My car is a 9n on an 02 plate. Thanks.

Hi Jackthelad,
Let me know how it goes will you, I will be changing the fronts pretty soon, so some pics or something would really help if you get the chance!
The only thing I have managed to find out about them is that they are not normal.... I guess they must have some sort of moulding on them to fint into the door so you can't just swap in aftermarkets straight away.

That is some sort of converter so you can add aftermarkets. Like I say I haven't tried it, haven't even had the door off, and probably don't know what I am talking about but it should give you a bit of an idea what is likely to be going on!
Hope that helps and good luck

I've found these speakers http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/produc ... /2848.html
but I'm not sure what the little boxes that come with them are, they look like little amps, but i have very little knowledge in car audio (as you may have guessed!) If someone could let me know what they are, and where they go it would help me a lot. Thanks!

Those are classed as crossovers.
A component that divides an audio signal into two or more ranges by frequency, sending, for example, low frequencies to one output and high frequencies to another. An active crossover is powered and divides the line-level audio signal prior to amplification. A passive crossover uses no external power supply and may be used either at line level or, more commonly, at speaker level to divide the signal after amplification and send the low frequencies to the woofer and the high frequencies to the tweeter.
