ECU reset?

Post by Ant_43 »

I'm thinking of disconnecting the battery on my Gti to reset the ECU and see if it makes the car run a bit smoother. This has probably already been answered here but just wanted to check:

How long should i disconnect for so that the ECU resets?
Will my radio still work (read something here about a security code)?

Any help much appreciated

its alot easier and safer to take the ecu relay out of the fuse board, saves the carry on with radio codes etc

i cannot remember the relay number at the mo tho

i aint 100% sure but i would look on the main fuse / relay board 1st

its alot easier to pull the relay than disconnecting the battery to do a reset, no need to worry about radio codes etc
