Left Hand Drive Xenons

Post by fink »

I'm thinking of skipping this place for a life of sun sand and sangria in spain...(I've done it once before, but I'm wanting this one to be a bit more perminant)....anyhow When I come to register the car in spain, I'll obviously have to have it ITV'd equiv to an MOT....now a freind has just done this and said he had to replace his headlights to LHD versions....I was happy as larry up till this point...when till registers and flashing warning lights popped into my head when I thought how much money that would cost to buy new LHD xenons.
Does anyhow know if a car will pass a Spanish ITV with the lens covers you get (ie when you go to France for the day or week or what ever)?
Or if RHD xenons can be adjusted to make them LHD compat?
Or how much roughly I'm looking at for LHD versions?
I suppose I could poss just get a couple of standard LHD headlights, but whats a Gti without Xenons!...plus would they fit and work in a Gti?
Anyhow possibly no one will know the answer to this, so if so thanks for looking.

I think there is supposed to be a switch located somewhere on the dashboard (out of sight) which can alter your headlights between RHD and LHD? I've not seen any proof of this but read that it exists... somewhere.

Alternatively, perhaps VAG-COM can be used to re-align RHD headlights to LHD?

he mean the direction of the beam - not the physical appearance of the left and right units.

the light spread pattern is different on the continent - it's the same when you buy a grey import motorbike - they usually just adjust the headlight beam to it's maximum to dip on the right side of the road.

dunno about cars though - good question - id imagine a dealer will know
