I got the same error. I hit refresh and it worked right away.

Dunno if you've tried that.

Okay my first advice would be try again in a few hours, Microsoft are pretty s**t, and I have no trust for any of there servers. Having said that last time I checked they where running Linux >.<

If its not been updated for a while, it probally needs a update installer software patch.

IE6 automatically blocks this and you have to say allow script/popup window when prompted I do belive.

Some firewalls are funny about it, in particular anything to do with Norton. Infact just burn that Norton rubbish!

If all else fails, head over to control panel, turn on automatic updates. Then wait for it to say you need to download the updates, and it should do it through the windows software. (this method used to work for getting around the SP1 copy protection, doesn't work anymore though)

Laurence

All else fails I can send you the latest updates on CD.

Error: Dell detected :D

wouldnt surprise me if it were so

maybe your firewall or ISP is having a bad reaction.... could even be a virus/trojan that's blocking your updates in fear of it's life

MS Update has f****d me right off before, though, in a similar fashion... it just wouldn't go... turned out there was updates I had to apply before I could even update. Baffling.
