Engine cover bolts

Post by b6x »

Hi all,

Prior to actively selling the wifes Polo GTi, I'm trying to sort out a couple of small cosmetic things. After it's recent cambelt change the dealer seems to have misplaced two of the engine cylinder cover bolts (the bit with the 1.6 16V and VW badges etc on).

I assume there should be four bolts holding it on, however there only appears to be two bolts and two empty holes.

I'm just trying to find the part number of the missing two bolts. Anyone have any ideas please?

Many thanks in advance,
b6x

Jeez. VW dealers must have a big pile of these sitting around their workshops. Maybe I should set up a group buy :D

I have found a part number, but not 100% sure on it... would like confirmation that this is a good'en if anyone knows....

Give VAG parts a shout. I got one from them awhile back. With postage added on you mite be better going down your local dealer, who probably lost it in this first place, making them a tasty 20p profit, i sence a new vw money making scam lol

If your dealer has lost them during the service - then complain and have them give you them for free!!

N 102 261 02

hexagon socket head bolt with collar
M6x16 x 4

Part number is correct :)

As "inder" said, it is an M6x14mm capscrew (allen key fitting), i had the same done with mine, lost one when servicing the car!

But, i got some chrome effect ones (stainless steel i think) from work for nowt, so any M6 caphead will do just aslong as it is not more than 14mm in length, it is just a little touch that looks good, especially as i have just had my engine cover colour coded and the old bolts were rusty and knackered.

Cheers guys. Thanks very much. Off to the dealers tomorrow to see how much they'll rip me off for those.

Thanks again.

Cyhliu, you'll be able to get them from any nut and bolt wholesale place. just go in with the correct size and they should have them.

In fact, i have four spare, they are shorter than the VW items but they do the job. if you PM me with your address i'll send u them for nowt if u want.
