New here - Hello! I need your help!

Post by Char5150 »

Hi!

I've finally decided to register here after being a regular visitor most days for that last six months!!! I know, what tyook me so long eh?

My wife own's a 2000 W Reg Silver 3Dr Polo GTi. It's a great car and in many ways more fun to drive than my 320CD. I love taking it out for a blast round the north Buckinghamshire back roads where we live at weekends. Like you guys, I love the climate control, Xenons, BBS alloys etc etc that are all standard on this rermarkable car!

Anyway, I have noticed that the back box is starting to sound noisy, like the baffles are going. Also, it sounds like it might be blowing from just behind the cat. Wayside VW in Towcester has just quoted me over £900 for a full exhaust. I think I need the whole section from the cat back to the tailpipe. They never quote me for this but it would still be around £400 I should think. The local Quikfit has said that the Polo 1.9D exhaust also fits and this only costs £190.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with needing new exhausts? I suppose the alternative is to get a stainless steel one, but we want to keep the car standard (and quiet) so I don't really want one of these unless they do subtle ones?

Any help from you guys would be appreciated!!

Thanks,
Andrew

Hello! Welcome to UK-Polos :D

Yes, I had a Powerflow cat-back stainless steel exhaust system fitted in February, which is pretty much standard. It is finished behind the rear bumper like the OEM item, but it is louder than the old system.

The beauty of a custom Powerflow exhaust is that you can tell the Powerflow dealer what you want from the system. Ask for an exhaust system in stainless steel that is no louder than standard and they can do it
