Buying advice Pt.456

Post by Mouse_GTI »

Ok just to confirm...

- check pedal box recall has been done (dealer stamp in book)
- check for corroding alloys
- check for leaking washer pipe
- cambelt changed between 50 and 60k

what about the cambelt tensioner failure/notchy gearchange issues?

Oh and one last question, what is it like going from a 1.25 Fiesta/1.4 Mk7 Polo to a Mk5 GTI? :D

If the cambelt was changed the tensioners should have been changed aswell. Ask if has been done.

As for your last question. I was driving my girlfriends peugoet 206, 1.4 lx
(what a rally slag it was  ). It felt good knowing you could put your foot down in the Polo & they was power there. :D

also ...

other things to look for...

- rust on the boot handle
- internal door handles peeling
- check electric windows working smoothly (prone to failiure / clicking/odd sounds)
- make sure when you pull away slowly (often reversing Back) that the rear clipers arent sticking to the rear discs (these can often seize)

as well as the usual - cambelts and tensioners, pedalbox, wheel corrosion, rear wiper and wash both working.

have a good drive to get a feel of the clutch

p.s. if its got climatronic try it on both hot and cold etc make sure its working
