Bose Audio Upgrade

Post by Vena_GTi »

Has anyone considered or have already changed the standard speakers for Bose speakers? or have people gone specifically for more halfords style manufacturers...

Am i right to assume that the front and rear door speakers are 6.5" as i plan to change the standards for Bose aslong as the price isnt too excessive, although im not expecting them to be cheap

Would Bose speakers fit? I know Audi use a lot of Bose upgrades.

How good soundwise are the standard GTI speakers and CD changer unit?

the standard speakers and hu are pretty good.

i upgraded the unit because i wanted an ipod interface. i then managed to get a deal with the speakers, headunit and interface cheap, so had to be done.

i dont like alot of I.C.E - amps and subs, mainly because i need the room in the boot. i dont play hip hop/d'n'bass etc etc anyway just wanted a good sounding stereo 8)

Is the standard unit very bassy? Because that is the case with the Mk7 and with my dad's Mk5 Golf GTI. You'd think it had a sub!

My sound system is still totally standard. I thinks its a good system with good sound, and I'd say it is bassy.

It really impressed me whe I first bought the car, and as i'm no longer into amps & subs, have found no reason to upgrade.

But as theclient said an ipod interface, or hu that reads mp3 discs might be reasons to consider an upgrade.

Im going to be installing an geniune VW accessory to the standard headunit soon, it provides an ipod interface and can communicate with your Ipod thru the buttons on the headunit 8)

You lose the 6-cd changer in the boot, as it uses the same connection on back of headunit, but you can have the single slot one mounted in the dash, well I recon you can, will test.

The standard system is ok. However I have changed my headunit as the standard headunit doesn't provide enough power to the speakers.

Its funny how much of a difference it makes from just changing the headunit.

I'm running an Alpine CDA-7894RB, which is 60wx4.

Ive Called Audi, Nissan, Mazda and they all say that they either dont sell the speakers Aftermarket or they will not fit as they require special fitment

I believe the majority of aftermarket speakers require an adapter of some sort or another to fit the OE speaker locations. Shouldn't be a problem sorting these out but I have no idea if Bose would be compatible. If they are, then that would be a nice little upgrade!

I'm just running the OEM standard setup in my GTi and I'm happy enough with it at the moment. I've thought about replacing the HU but can't find one I like so far and besides would like to keep the use of the 6-CD changer in the boot :)

Like theclient I need my boot for practical reasons so won't be having a sub or amp installed!

Yer, im running standard at the moment.. im not into all this 300watt speakers and amps and subs... the standard speakers are superb in my opinion but the passanger doo speaker has begun to rattle and after buying a bose radio player, the sound is awesome... so would really like it in my car if possible

Audi said that i will need slides to fit bose in (whatever they are) as they sell the speakers from the dealer...
