Should oil needed toppingup after 3500 miles?

As title, i had a 40K service 3 months/3500 miles ago and they changed the filter and oil and today the oil light came on - was just wondering if it should need topping up so soon or did VW not fill it up?

Mine also needs topping up alot, dunno.... probably cos its just a valver?

I had mine serviced about 2 months ago (not sure how many mileages ago) and it needs a bit of topping up as well. I was thinking that as well, maybe they just never bothered to re-fill the oil fully.

Any1 know what oil VW put in the 9Ns. Want to make sure I put a like for like one.

I use Quantum Synta 505.00, Volkswagen approved one.

You shouldn't use any oil which doesn't have the VW approved 505.00 number.

VW say oil consumption can be up to 1 litre/1000 miles, so in theory, your car's running fine!
