Dealers!!!!

Post by robbiehall »

This is by no means as bad as some of you seem to have experienced, but a couple of months ago I asked my local VW dealer about the in-dash cd players they had, 'certainly Sir just come in, it's only 15 mins work, that'll be 200 pounds please'
So of course I went on to ebay and found my own cd player.
Today I thought I would fit it, but as the cubby-hole was a bit reluctant to come out I drove to the dealer and asked them to fit it. 'Certainly Sir, but its a half-hour job 28 pounds please, oh and btw we cannot do it now, you'll have to book it in. Would you like to make an app?'
NO, I said and drove home, 5 mins later I had fitted it and was playing my first CD. I was just a scaredy-cat about pushing and prodding my dash.
So VW dealers, foxtrot-oscar......

Cheers

that's the spirit :) Some things might seem difficult at first, but you'd be amazed how much you can achieve if you just put your mind to it...
Just found out today, putting in some neons in a polo 2003 from a friend of mine. We had to take off parts of the dash and install a button to switch it on/off.. Not knowing too much of electricity and neons I managed to fit it and you cannot even see its there(unless you turn it on, d'huh..)

Were you speaking to a Service advisor or a Parts advisor?

My thinking is that you spoke to a parts advisor and hes offered to fit it for free (after all parts are making the profit and they don't have a labour rate). After all how hard are they REALLY to fit?

Then you've spoken to a Service advisor and he/she has only done her job of selling workshop hours.

Just my 2p :)

Look at me! Always defending the dealers

Yeah I see what you mean, but I'm pretty sure I spoke to the same guy initially as I saw on my visit to the showroom.
Anyway, I did it myself for nowt'
