Prob best to take it to a garage mate, takes bout 30 - 45 mins a spring. And needs proffesional changing. I noticed ure from reading aswell. Im from Newbury, just down the road. You ever go to Reading Cruise by any chance?
the springs only come off the top, you need to take the whole strut out. you do this by removing the drop link and the bolt through the hub at the bottom of the strut then lever the hub down and pop out the bottom of the strut. then undo the 3 13mm's under the bonnet at the top of the strut and the strut should now come out. you will need a good set of spring clamps to compress the spring to allow you to take the top mounting off. if you attempt this yourself * BE VERY CAREFUL * re-fitting is just the removal in reverse
tools needed:
16mm spanner
19mm spanner
13mm socket
big lever
spline socket (not sure of the exact size)
spring clamps
21mm swan neck spanner
7mm allen key
Cheers for the info!!! Doesnt sound too bad, will have a bash this week.
I was quoted £200 by a garage to do it, I have built a few mini's and played with all sorts of cars so I'm confident I can do it. No need to spend money if I dont have to.
