Why is my polo doing this strange thing

When the engine is idiling ,it has the tendency to just stall. its done it 5 times in the last 4 weeks. once i was sitting at a red light then the engine just went off.

Today just nipped into the local corner shop and left the engine running, came out at it was not. I tried to start it but it was very groggy. gave it a few seconds and tried again and after a quick pump of the accelarter it started fine.

its left me a bit

hmm this happens to me sumtimes when i start it, i was told the throttle body jus needs cleaning up abit.
most garages can do it an it shudnt cost much

This is a common symptom of the ICV (idle control valve) getting clotted up with soot.

Could be something else, but if the car cant idle (without you giving revs) it's normally the ICV
