EPC light on, loss of engine power help!!! (wee update)

Post by thedees1 »

Driving along today about 60mph epc light came on and the engine just lost all power . no acceleration in any gear.

pulled over and switched every thing off

started up again then light went out, but when driving the engine tends to take a loss of power or surge every minute or so. the light stays off.

ive parked it up in a mates drive quite a bit away from home

will it be safe to drive 13 miles home? without causing damage

has anyone got any clues to what it could be.

my other engine light has been going on and of every other day the one with the electrical sign.

28th september

drove the car home from where it was parked up . around 13 mile trip with no problems.

nothiced though there was quite alot of water coming from the exuaghst.the ground was soaking after sitting idilng for a couple of minutes.

i dont think this is major but any ideas.

Have you checked your spark plugs and HT leads? Might need changing!

I kinda had the same problem. When I was driving the EPC light cam on now and again and I had a loss of power plus the car wouldnt go over 5000 RPM. Turned out the be the Engine Speed sensor.
£40 part but a real b***h to fit.
