First mod nearly completed - sprayed front vw badge black and bought a black rear badge and colour coded the nasty grey plastic background red!

Pics will be up soon once I've fitted the abck badge - anyone got any tips for what I should use to stick it on - it came with a sticky pad, but i had to pull it off to seperate the badge and i'm worried it won't be that sticky anymore!

Because I didn't split my badge, I used the sticky pad supplied. Otherwise I believe that several members have simply used some strong double-sided tape, should be able to pick some up from any decent hardware store like Wickes or B&Q!

I used trim repair tape from Halfords, just cut it and stuck it to the VW shaped bit on the back, easy as that :D

Thanks guys - its all done now and looks great. Looking at the back end, i'm still considering taking the 'polo' and 'gti' off but unsure for 2 reasons. Firstly, its a GTI and they are fairly rare, so I think maybe they should stay.

Also, my car is red and when i took the back badge off, the red underneath was very slightly different and I'm concerned being able to see where the badges were taken off.

Pics shoukd be up later!

Bin the POLO lettering IMO. Thats what I (and many others) have done! I still have the GTi badging in place and haven't decided whether it stays or goes.

When I took the POLO badge off, a bit of work with Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover followed by a wash and polish (Ultra Deep Shine) left no signs that there was ever a badge there, the paint is fine.

Still have a brand new and unopened pair of (front and rear) GTi badges here on my desk, so if I change my mind again all is not lost!

I just cant seem to get rid of the the polo mark left from i removed my badge for the second time today on my red one. I used scratch x but did not make any difference along with other autoglym polishes and no joy, so im just gonna have to go with the imprint just know and get my tailgate smoothed and sprayed next month

I semi debadged my rear and moved the GTI to the left like the newer style VW's. I think it looks neater. Taking the GTI badge off ain't a bad idea either, looks kinda cool with just the VW badge

I wouldn't mind just having the GTi badge and the boot handle, getting rid of the big VW badge.

It now looks like this.

Yes, and yes. Although people have found that it doesn't fix too well as the rear of the badge has a curvature to it. The Sharan rear badge is about the same size, yet has a flat back.

It has a small indent where the big sticky pad goes, the indent isn't a lot smaller than the badge itself so its a question of whether the smaller badge would be big enough to fill the indent or whether you would have to smooth first.
