1.2 top speed???

Hey guys.

Anyone know what VW claim to be the top speed of a 1.2 (55bhp) 9N?

Mine seems to max out at 96mph???

I hope everyone else has found this, and it's not just, mine. Acceleration is fine, but in the higher gears it loses it. Not that i was expecting great things from a 1.2, but 100mph might be nice.

114 on the clocks for the 65bhp (probably about 90 real speed )

Yeah i've had an indicated 110mph in a 1.2 courtesy car.
did have a video of it. don't think i have anymore tho!

The joys of a courtesy car! I had roughly 105mph from a 1.2 55bhp 9n3 that i had as a courtesy car.

Would never attempt it on my own one mind.

i only drove mine about 12 miles with the 1.2 engine still fitted so i have no idea what the standard engine is like

i bet its alot better mpg than mine is now tho

i get about 60 to 70 miles to £10

alot less if i am having fun

ive reached around 104...maybe it was 105 but i was too scared to take my eyes off the road lol

The trouble is that once it reaches 85mph, the rate of acceleration drops (understandably for a 1.2) so i don't really have anywhere that is long enough in a straight line to get any more speed (plus, im a pussy).

I think my 0-100mph is 3 hours

lol polo 1.2... it all depends on what condition the car is in obviously...cos mines only gets to 85

Regularly have mine at 105 no probs and not red-lining the revs either. Valid point about taking a while to wind it up to speed, tends to be long motorway journeys! Annoying if being followed by car doing similar speed and then someone pulls out in front overtake, even if they pull back in afterwards, you have to pull over too as it takes a while to get back up to speed in 5th but would be too high revving in 4th

... at least i hope so or your breaking the law unless you have a private track
